Max-a has a new face!
Why the surprise? Max-a is a very experienced studio in the industry, but lately, they’ve become somewhat on the fringes. Even though they still release new films every month, it seems more like they’re doing it just to keep their employees busy rather than for profit. So it’s not just me—very few fans now keep track of what Max-a releases each month…
This is why I was so surprised that they have a new star: While newcomers are generally popular, debuting with a relatively unknown studio like Max-a is almost like career suicide. That’s why talent agencies usually avoid letting their top newcomers start out with second-tier studios. So, when I saw Tsukino Hanabi (月野花火) debut with Max-a, I had three questions immediately:
- Which agency was brave enough to send a newcomer to them?
- What kind of contract did Tsukino Hanabi sign? Is she an exclusive actress, or did they only secure her AV debut?
- What does she look like? Would she have what it takes to make it in this industry, debuting with Max-a?
What’s more interesting is that there’s almost no information about her, which made my thoughts even more negative. The studio’s previous newcomer, Kiritani Suzune (桐谷鈴音), only released four films before her exclusive contract ended, and now she’s struggling to find new work, mostly doing short films for streaming platforms. Can Tsukino Hanabi prove everyone wrong and help improve the studio’s image? Let’s see what she’s like in the film:
Actually, she’s pretty standard.
What I mean is, there’s nothing glaringly bad about her: Tsukino Hanabi is a very typical black-haired beauty in the industry. With the right camera angles, her face looks good, and she has charm when she wears a schoolgirl outfit. As for her body, her F-cup breasts aren’t gigantic, but they’re definitely not small enough to be considered “easy to handle.” What stands out most is her breathing: In the short promotional video, which is only about a minute long, you can tell Tsukino Hanabi is like a silent lamb. Of course, this could be because the male actors are gentler in her debut film, so she doesn’t need to scream. But this newcomer seems either reserved or simply unresponsive, as she performs in almost complete silence, occasionally saying things like:
“Don’t… don’t…”
So, if you ask if she’s an exceptional newcomer, I’d say not exactly. But she’s certainly not terrible either. She’s on par with Kiritani Suzune, just helping Max-a fill its release quota. Whether Tsukino Hanabi or the studio are really aiming to “make it big” is something I’m still questioning.
From my perspective, if Tsukino Hanabi lasts longer at Max-a than Kiritani Suzune did, then she’s already succeeded.
