Riding the wave of anime remakes, studio “Honchu” enlisted director Masaki Nampo and retiring actress Mitani Akane to film this gender-swapping homage—needless to say, inspired by the manga Ranma ½.
Yet the plot takes creative liberties…
First, Akane never falls into the “Drowned Girl Spring”—her character is biologically female, though the hot-water-turns-male/cold-water-turns-female mechanic remains intact. The arranged marriage trope persists: Akane is betrothed to dojo heir “Sadao Sadamatsu,” but his staggering charm attracts rival suitor “Nonoka Yukari,” whose fiery gazes at Sadamatsu unsettle Akane.
Solution? Hot water transforms Akane into “Juro Mitani,” wielding a 30cm “staff” (via prosthetic) to conquer Nonoka—stimulating her erogenous zones until she abandons Sadamatsu, now craving only Juro’s “affection.”
Cue Sadamatsu’s jealousy. A three-way battle ensues—not a reverse threesome, but Juro and Sadamatsu using Nonoka as a “bridge” in dual penetration. Post-climax, Nonoka’s squirt drenches Juro, reverting “him” to female form.
Sadamatsu then engineers another twist: after besting Juro in a manly duel, his own ejaculation triggers Akane’s reversion, allowing him to claim her womanhood.
Akane’s brilliance shines in this absurdist script—a swan song showcasing her unmatched range. With her retirement looming, the industry mourns: Who could ever fill her shoes?
