It’s way too sudden!
Fujiko Mio, who debuted in 2022 and was famously marketed as “Fukuoka’s No. 1 Soapland Star,” announced her sudden retirement today (October 21). She admitted it was abrupt, but after going through many personal experiences, she felt she had accomplished what she set out to do and that it was time to say goodbye. She expressed her gratitude for all the support she’s received since her debut.
What exactly did she go through? She was once a highly anticipated newcomer—why leave so suddenly?
Those who follow her social media would know that in mid-September, Fujiko Mio shared that she had an unexpected incident that led to hospitalization. It seemed serious, as all her upcoming shoots were canceled. Although she mentioned at the time that she planned to return to the AV industry once she recovered, that return never happened.
I had a brief conversation with her agency this morning, and they confirmed that her unstable health was the main reason she couldn’t continue working. On the other hand, Fujiko Mio also felt that after nearly two and a half years in the industry, breaking new ground would be difficult, leading her to make a natural exit.
What’s next? Since she’s still in recovery, Fujiko Mio hasn’t made any concrete plans yet—her current focus is on getting discharged from the hospital. Will she return to the industry after regaining her health? It’s hard to say. Like her manager and I agreed, no one has a crystal ball to predict the future, and the minds of actresses can be difficult to read. Given her background in the adult service industry, there’s a chance she could return to her previous line of work even if she doesn’t come back to AV. For now, she’s officially retired, and we wish her a speedy recovery!
